Combat is an integral part of life for the people who live in Remnant. A long history of tragedy and war created a people who are proficient at defending themselves - because they have to be in order to survive. Many people learn to fight by attending Huntsman Academies, institutions in each of the four kingdoms dedicated to training Huntsmen and Huntresses whose responsibility it is to defend their kingdoms from the Grimm and any other threat that may arise.

The academies were founded 80 years prior to the start of our heroes’ story at the conclusion of the Great War. When peace was secured at Vytal, the four Academies were created to train Huntsmen and Huntresses who would hunt Grimm instead of tying their allegiances to an individual kingdom. Huntsmen and Huntresses may work wherever they wish without government interference, and the curriculum from each Academy is similar. Their simple purpose is to train people who can defend humanity as a whole, so while Atlas Academy is connected to the government, it does not provide government workers as a rule.

There are three main concerns to combat in Remnant: Dust, weapons, and aura. Follow the links above for more information about each.
